At a glance
- Don’t assume a matching name and a screenshot of a review mean it’s the same business.
- Check that the address and contracting party match across the booking confirmation, payment method, and map listing.
- Before paying, check the total price, including city tax, cleaning fees, and late check-in fees, along with cancellation and refund terms.
- If you need to verify accommodation registration or a business license, look for the official lodging registry for the country and city where it’s located. There is no unified EU registry, so this article does not guarantee that a property is legally operating.
Day by day
Suggested itinerary
See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.
Check that the address, accommodation operator, and dates on recent notices match up; don’t rely on search results for the name alone.
Check the listed price plus city tax, cleaning fees, and late check-in fees, as well as cancellation and refund terms, on one screen or in the booking confirmation.
Plan the final leg from the station or airport to your accommodation, and have a backup place to stay in case you can’t reach the host.
How to fit it in
Use this checklist if you want to communicate in Korean and meet other travelers but are concerned that an older recommendation list may be out of date.
Reality check
Instead of relying on claims that a place is near attractions, enter its actual address in a map and check transfers and late-night walks after arriving at the main station or airport.
Before booking, spend 10 minutes per accommodation cross-checking its official channel, recent reviews, and map address.
Check whether the listed price includes city tax, cleaning fees, and late check-in fees, and confirm international transfer fees and how refunds are paid.
Don’t send a full photo of your passport or card details through messaging apps. If payment is only accepted in cash or by bank transfer, keep a record of who you’re transacting with and what supports a refund.
If plans change
If contact stops, don’t send more money; start the platform’s dispute process
If the address is unclear, switch to a standard accommodation with a refundable booking
Small tip
Use names saved in the past, such as Raon, Coco, Seulgirowoon, Doraji, Wandu Kong, or Somine, as booking candidates only if you can officially verify that the same business is currently operating.
Final check before departure
- Enter the accommodation’s actual address in a map and check the route from the airport or station and what times are allowed for late arrival.
- Before paying, get written confirmation of the booking party, what’s included in the total price, the refund amount if you cancel, and the refund timeline.
- For platform bookings, keep messages and payment records on the platform. If you’re asked to transfer money, compare the business name with the booking confirmation.
- Save a separate refundable backup accommodation and first-day transport option in case you’re denied check-in on arrival.
An accommodation saved under an older recommended name isn’t guaranteed to be the same business today. Check the address, contracting party, total price, and cancellation and refund terms in the same booking record. If you need to check business registration, consult that city’s official registry separately.
