At a glance

  • Da Nang tourism information says lifeguards are stationed at My Khe Beach, but follow the beach flags and lifeguards’ instructions to decide whether it’s safe to swim.
  • After a morning at the beach, take a break indoors during the hottest part of the day, then go for a short walk again around sunset.
  • Before ordering, check the menu, seafood weight, cooking charge, and total instead of relying on a specific price from the past.
  • The Da Nang tourism authority lists Bep Cuon at 31–33 Tran Bach Dang as an option for rolls and Vietnamese food for families. After rinsing off and changing at My Khe Beach, check on a map whether this address is in the same area as your accommodation, and don’t add a distant downtown restaurant to the itinerary. The tourism listing doesn’t guarantee availability or prices on your visit date, so check the current menu, servings, drinks, and total.
  • Other dining options include My Hanh Seafood (3–5 Võ Nguyên Giáp) in the beach area and Madame Lân (4 Bạch Đằng) by the Han River downtown. My Hanh Seafood is a seafood option on the beach road north of My Khe Beach; check how fish and shrimp are priced by weight, as well as the cooking charge. Madame Lân is a Vietnamese restaurant downtown on the west side of the river; check the official menu and add up a dish, shared plates, and drinks. Don’t visit both in one meal. Save them for separate days, one at the beach and one downtown. Rinse off and change after swimming. My Hanh’s official page lists two different sets of hours, so check the kitchen’s closing time for your visit date by phone or on the reservation page.

Day by day

Suggested itinerary

See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.

Early morning

Check the beach flags and lifeguards’ instructions. Walk or swim only in permitted areas.

Midday

Leave the beach to rest indoors, then eat from a menu with listed prices. Check whether Bep Cuon (31–33 Trần Bạch Đằng) in the beach area is open on your visit date, and choose a meal such as rolls. Rinse off and change after swimming.

Around sunset

Check the beach flags and lifeguards’ instructions again before deciding whether to swim. For dinner, choose either My Hanh Seafood (3–5 Võ Nguyên Giáp) in the beach area or Bep Cuon. Ask what unit each item is sold in, about cooking charges, and about the total before ordering, then head home after dinner. Save Madame Lân by the Han River for another day downtown.

How to fit it in

Reality check

Transport

My Khe Beach stretches a long way, so check which part of the beach a restaurant is near, not just its name. Use a ride-hailing car between downtown and the beach, and allow extra time during rush hour.

Time

Allow 1–2 hours at the beach in the early morning and again around sunset. Set aside 90 minutes for a meal, including wait time. Choose a restaurant in the same area as the rest of the day, either the beach or downtown. Don’t try to visit all three suggested restaurants.

Cost

Check the menu, seafood weight, cooking charge, and total before ordering.

Safety

Don’t swim if there’s a red flag, high waves, lightning, or lifeguard restrictions. Don’t swim after drinking, and don’t leave valuables on the beach.

If plans change

On days with high waves

Skip swimming and take a beach walk, visit a cafe, or go to the Museum of Cham Sculpture. Check Bep Cuon’s official listing, menu for your visit date, and opening hours, and don’t insist on visiting both the beach and the museum.

If you don’t eat seafood

In the beach area, check Bep Cuon’s rolls and Vietnamese food menu, and ask about allergens first. On a day downtown, check Madame Lân’s official menu and seating at 4 Bạch Đằng, then choose between an individual dish and shared plates. Don’t travel back and forth between the beach and downtown on the same evening just to eat.

Small tip

Group fruit stands and restaurants near the beach into the same half-day, depending on the weather and your direction of travel.

Final check before departure

  • Check the beach flags and the day’s weather conditions.
  • Bring a change of clothes and a waterproof bag for after swimming.
  • Ask what unit seafood is sold in and what the total will be before ordering.

Swim zones, lifeguard hours, and beach events may change with the weather and season. Follow the safety signs posted on-site. Check transportation between the beach and downtown, and dinner reservations. If the waves are high, visit an official museum instead of swimming.
