At a glance
- Choose Harbour City to combine a Tsim Sha Tsui harbor walk with brand-name shopping, IFC Mall for dining in Central and access to the train stations, and Citygate for outlet shopping or a day in Lantau. Visiting all three on the same day is likely to mean more time traveling than time in different stores. First, check the official store directory to see whether the brands you want are actually there.
- Harbour City is large, so save both the brand name and its floor or zone. Assuming stores in Ocean Terminal and other areas share the same entrance can mean a lot of walking indoors. IFC connects with Hong Kong Station and Central, but the two stations don’t share a single small exit, so check the elevator route separately if you have luggage. Even if you’re looking for shelter from the rain, whether the entire route from your accommodation is indoors depends on where you start.
- Citygate’s official access point is Exit C of Tung Chung MTR Station; it is not a mall inside the airport terminal. From the airport, the S1 or S64 bus is a transportation option. The approximately 10-minute travel time in the official facilities guide refers to the ride, so allow extra time for waiting, reaching the bus stop, and walking through the terminal. Visit only if you have time left after allowing enough time for airport check-in and security.
Day by day
Suggested itinerary
See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.
Choose your purpose → pick one mall → compare prices → check the receipt and return terms
Choose between the three malls based on your plans
An outlet may not have the size or color you want, and even if the discount looks steep, compare the price with the price in Korea and factor in the exchange rate. Check the receipt, exchange and refund policies, and international warranty terms before paying. Set separate budgets for dining and shopping, and if you reach your limit, don’t chase another mall. Don’t assume ordinary purchases qualify for an airport tax refund just because you bought them at a Hong Kong mall; check the applicable sales and duty-free terms.
Citygate’s facilities guide lists hours of 10:00–22:00; individual stores and restaurants have separate hours. For other malls, check the official store pages for opening hours on the day you plan to visit. For luggage storage, confirm the location, size limits, hours, and fees, and don’t assume every suitcase can be stored. If you have a restaurant reservation, limiting your route to that restaurant and about two stores makes it easier to finish within half a day. In heavy rain, switch to a meal and indoor break at one nearby mall.
How to fit it in
First decide what you want to buy and which station is nearby, then explore just one mall in depth each day.
Reality check
Harbour City connects to the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, IFC to Hong Kong Station and Central, and Citygate to Exit C of Tung Chung Station. The airport and Citygate are connected by separate transport, including the S1 and S64 buses.
Allow 2–3 hours for one mall, or half a day if you’re also having a meal.
Set separate budgets for brands, souvenirs, and dining, and check exchange rates, returns, and warranty terms.
In crowded sales areas and on escalators, and when paying for expensive items, check your receipt and authenticity guarantee.
If plans change
Don’t chase the same brand at another location; move on to your next area.
Keep the day simple with a meal, movie, or exhibition connected to the mall.
Small tip
Stores and opening hours change often, so don’t travel far just for a single store.
Final check before departure
- Decide which brand and items you want to buy, and set a price limit
- Check the store’s opening hours, exchange policy, and warranty terms
- If visiting near the airport, decide your return time based on your check-in time
