At a glance
- The Hong Kong Tourism Board lists the Sheung Wan branch at Tung Ning Building, 249–253 Des Voeux Road Central. Check the map pin so you don’t head to the former Wellington Street address or the separate Kimberley Road branch in Tsim Sha Tsui.
- The Tourism Board describes the traditional service style, with staff circulating carts carrying bamboo steamers. When you see something you’d like, ask the staff about the dish, price, and how it will be recorded. Ask about the tea charge, then order an amount that suits your group.
- If you prefer to choose at your own pace from a menu, a regular-order dim sum restaurant may be more comfortable. If you want to try cart service, account for busy aisles and the possibility of sharing a table, and tell staff about anyone’s allergies.

Suggested itinerary
See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.
Check the hours and current entrance for the Tung Ning Building branch in Sheung Wan.
Ask about the tea charge, dim sum prices, and allergens, then choose small portions from the carts.
Continue with your planned walk around Sheung Wan. If the wait is long, choose another meal nearby.
Places and meals
The new Sheung Wan location, which opened after the May 2026 move. Distinguish it from the Tsim Sha Tsui branch.
Google MapsHow to fit it in
Check the Sheung Wan branch’s hours for your visit and fit it into a morning or lunch plan. Don’t assume late-night hours listed for the Tsim Sha Tsui or airport branches apply to Sheung Wan.
Reality check
Check the walking route from Sheung Wan MTR station to the new address. If you’re combining the meal with a walk to Man Mo Temple or Hollywood Road, consider the hills and any luggage you’re carrying. Don’t confuse the route with the one to the Tsim Sha Tsui branch.
Allow 60–90 minutes for tea and dim sum, plus another 30 minutes for waiting and getting familiar with the ordering process.
Budget for tea, each dim sum plate, and any service charge. Don’t take too much at the start.
Watch out for hot steamers and crowded carts and aisles. Check ingredients for allergens.
If plans change
Choose another open dim sum restaurant or a quick meal in Sheung Wan, and keep your afternoon plans.
Check the separate branch at 25 Kimberley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Don’t assume the Sheung Wan branch moved there.
Small tip
The Hong Kong Tourism Board lists Tsim Sha Tsui and the airport as separate branches. When checking reservations, hours, or cart service, specify which branch you plan to visit. If the on-site information differs, choose an alternative in the same area rather than traveling to a distant branch.
Final check before departure
- Save the new Sheung Wan address and confirm which branch you’ll visit.
- Check the hours and whether reservations are available at your chosen branch.
- Before ordering, ask about the tea charge, prices per plate, service charge, and allergens.
