At a glance
- At the National Garden, decide which entrance to use and which garden to see first. If you leave through a different gate, your route back to the bus or parking lot will change. Check the garden map for restrooms and places to eat or take a break, too.
- The walk from the wetland ticket office to Yongsan Observatory includes an uphill stretch after the boardwalk. Arriving at the ticket office just before sunset can make your visit feel rushed. If you’d rather avoid the climb, walk to the reed boardwalk and back instead of going to the observatory.
- Even if you take SkyCube, you still need to travel farther after getting off to reach the wetland. Check the one-way and round-trip ticket options and the last return departure to decide whether you’ll need another way back.
Time to allow for sightseeing between arrival and your return
How to split up your days
Here’s an example itinerary with the two sights on separate days. To visit both in one day, limit your time in the garden to 2–3 hours and head to the wetland during daylight.
Suncheon Station → drop off your bags → National Garden → hotel in town
This plan leaves 3–4 hours for your visit. A night ticket excludes some daytime facilities and the wetland.
Hotel → wetland boardwalk and your chosen observatory → Suncheon Station
Allow 2–3 hours at the wetland, plus time for transportation and waiting. If you have an early train, keep your visit focused on the boardwalk.
Places and meals
Food and restaurants
- If you are visiting the National Garden and Suncheon Bay Wetland on the same day, choose in advance whether to eat inside or outside the garden, or near Suncheon Station. If you plan to wait for sunset at the wetland, a late dinner may conflict with your return transport. Bring water and a light snack, and follow the protected area's rules on eating and litter.
How to fit it in
You’ll have more time to enjoy your visit if you go to the National Garden on day one and the wetland on day two. If you arrive late, visit the garden at night on the first day, then choose the reed boardwalk and an observatory the next day. Taking a train right after sunset can make for a rushed trip back to the station, so it’s better to plan your sunset visit for the day before you leave.
Reality check
From Suncheon Station, take a bus or taxi to each destination separately. Don’t try to walk between the two sites. Check bus arrival information and compare the estimated taxi fare split among your group. If you use SkyCube, check the station location and the additional distance to the wetland entrance on a map.
Plan for 3–4 hours at the garden and 2–3 hours at the wetland, plus breaks and transportation. To watch the sunset from an observatory, arrive at the ticket office well ahead of time. On a day you have a return train, first decide when to leave the wetland, allowing time to get back to the station.
An adult general admission ticket costs 10,000 won and covers the garden and wetland on the same day. The 5,000-won night ticket does not include wetland admission. If you’re visiting over two days, compare it with the adult 2-day combined ticket, which covers five attractions for 12,000 won. SkyCube’s standard adult fare is an additional 8,000 won round trip or 6,000 won one way. Check the valid dates when you buy your ticket.
For your safety, don’t run on the wetland boardwalks. They can be slippery when wet, and the path to the observatory is uphill. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, and stay inside the railings. Follow staff instructions when leaving after sunset. In strong winds or heavy rain, skip the observatory and check whether the National Garden’s indoor facilities are open.
If plans change
If there’s heavy rain or strong wind, skip the uphill walk to the observatory and switch to a meal in town or an indoor attraction. The National Garden also has extensive outdoor areas, so first check whether you can limit your visit to its indoor facilities.
If you arrive late in the afternoon or have an early return train, choose either the garden or the wetland. You don’t need to squeeze in both just because one ticket can cover them.
Small tip
A general admission ticket for the National Garden also works at the wetland on the same day, but a night ticket does not include wetland admission. If you want to split your visits over two days, compare the 2-day combined ticket for five attractions before buying two general admission tickets. SkyCube has a separate fare.
Final check before departure
- Choose your return time when booking your train, then compare the dates and included facilities for general, night, and 2-day combined tickets on the official fee schedule.
- Check the wetland’s last admission time and sunset, as well as the last return service for SkyCube and any additional transportation you’ll need.
- Look up the route from the end of your visit back to the station. If the bus schedule doesn’t work, include the estimated taxi fare in your travel budget.
Garden, wetland, and transportation operations vary by season and event.
