At a glance

  • The destination is the Museum of Tea Ware at 10 Cotton Tree Drive, inside Hong Kong Park. We recommend a 90–105-minute visit: enter from Admiralty station, see the pond, then visit the exhibits. The park sits on a hill, so the actual route may involve more stairs than the short distance on the map suggests.
  • The Museum of Tea Ware is open Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00–18:00. It is closed on Tuesdays except when Tuesday is a public holiday. It also closes for the first two days of Lunar New Year and shuts at 17:00 on Christmas Eve and Lunar New Year's Eve. Walk through the park in the morning and visit the museum after 10:00 to avoid waiting outside.
  • The exhibits are easier to follow if you focus on one type of tea ware at a time. Compare the handles, spouts, and materials of the teapots, then choose a few pieces with labels to read. A tea-drinking experience is a separate activity from viewing the collection, so don't expect tea to be served with museum admission.
  • Adding the aviary and conservatory means more walking and stairs in the park. If stairs are difficult or you're using a stroller, start with the lower pond and the Museum of Tea Ware, then check the facility map for accessible routes. If it's raining heavily, shorten your walk by the pond and check whether the museum is open before sticking to indoor visits.

Day by day

Suggested itinerary

See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.

Morning

Admiralty station → Hong Kong Park → Museum of Tea Ware → Central or the Peak Tram

How to fit it in

Enter the lower part of the park from Admiralty, see the pond, and visit the Museum of Tea Ware when it opens. Then head toward the Peak Tram or Central.

Reality check

Transport

Walk uphill from Admiralty station into the park, then continue in one direction toward the Peak Tram or Central.

Time

Allow 90–105 minutes: 40–45 minutes for a walk in the lower part of the park and 45–60 minutes for the Museum of Tea Ware. Add 30–45 minutes for the aviary, plus the time to walk there. If you have a timed Peak Tram booking, leave extra time from your departure from the park through the boarding queue.

Cost

Admission to the Museum of Tea Ware is free. Budget separately for any tea experience or meal, and check the fee and reservation requirements when booking a program. If you take the Peak Tram after the park, calculate the official total separately based on whether your ticket includes a return trip or admission to the observation deck.

Safety

Stairs and slopes can be slippery after rain. Do not take food out near the aviary.

If plans change

Hong Kong Park and the Museum of Tea Ware: Heavy rain

Skip the park walk and wait for your next activity in an indoor Admiralty space such as Pacific Place.

Hong Kong Park and the Museum of Tea Ware: Museum closed

Spend about 40 minutes at the pond and in the park, then continue with your original plans in Central.

Small tip

If the museum is closed, don't force yourself to fill 90 minutes in the park; cut the walk to 40 minutes. If visibility at the Peak is poor, take your time with the tea exhibits instead of heading to a viewpoint for a clearer experience.

Final check before departure

  • Check the museum's closure days
  • Save the Admiralty station exit
  • Bring an umbrella and shoes with good grip

On October 3, 2026, checked the museum's official page for free admission, Tuesday closures, and 10:00–18:00 hours. Viewing the exhibits is separate from attending events that require reservations. Don't assume that the Museum of Tea Ware and park facilities will all operate as usual during heavy rain or a typhoon.
