At a glance
- The sticky rice includes preserved meats such as Cantonese sausage. Michelin also highlights pan-fried cheung fun and pork bone congee. If you want a full meal, start with the sticky rice. If your group only wants a snack, ask in person whether you can share an order of cheung fun. Ordering all the signature dishes at once may leave too little room for tarts or late-night snacks later.
- Search for both 強記美食 and 406 Lockhart Road on your map. Choosing a Sha Tin restaurant with the same English name, or another roast-meat restaurant, will take you to a different area. The address is in Wan Chai, and you can also link it with a walk toward Causeway Bay, so choose the nearest station based on where you start.
- Michelin’s 2022 feature describes the family’s cooking and menu; it is not a current hours listing. Plan around the Monday closure shown on the restaurant’s current individual page, and call +852 2572 5207 to ask about temporary closures. Contact the restaurant directly about reservations, too.
- Check the price of the sticky rice, including any extra meat, before ordering. If you avoid pork, shellfish, or nuts, don’t choose congee or cheung fun based on the dish name alone; ask about the broth, toppings, and sauces. If you can’t confirm how they handle allergies, eat at another restaurant.
Day by day
Suggested itinerary
See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.
Check current hours at 406 Lockhart Road → spend 40–60 minutes eating sticky rice or cheung fun → walk in one direction, toward Wan Chai or Causeway Bay
Skip Keung Kee → eat at an indoor cha chaan teng in Wan Chai → visit the Blue House or take the tram
Places and meals
An evening option in Wan Chai for a quick, filling meal of sticky rice.
Google MapsHow to fit it in
Fit this into a Wan Chai itinerary after lunch, Tuesday–Sunday, and allow 40–60 minutes for your meal. After a late lunch, skip dessert for now and continue your walk in one direction, either toward Causeway Bay or the Blue House.
Reality check
It’s within walking distance of Wan Chai Station and nearby tram stops. Pair it with an evening in Happy Valley or Causeway Bay.
Allow 30–45 minutes for a quick meal, plus 15 minutes for ordering and waiting.
Check the on-site menu for the total cost of the standard sticky rice dish, extra sausage or meat, and a drink. Setting aside HK$100 per person as a meal budget cap is just a travel-budget example. If extra meat would push you over the cap, start with the standard dish and cut back on other snacks.
Keep in mind that preserved meats are salty and the rice is hot. Keep an eye on your belongings in the tight seating area.
If plans change
Keep your Wan Chai walk and switch to a rice or noodle meal at an open cha chaan teng, such as Honolulu. Don’t travel to Sha Tin for a different restaurant with the same name as Keung Kee.
Share an order of sticky rice or get just one plate of cheung fun. If you’re already full, skip the restaurant and head to your next stop for a break.
Small tip
Sticky rice is very filling, so adjust your portion if you’re also planning dessert or night-market snacks.
Final check before departure
- Check opening days
- Save the Wan Chai location
- Adjust your portion to leave room for late-night snacks
On October 3, 2026, I checked Michelin’s individual restaurant page for the Monday closure, Tuesday–Sunday hours of 12–10 p.m., and the address at 406 Lockhart Road. Check for same-day updates from the restaurant, and don’t assume signature dishes will still be available until 10 p.m.
