At a glance
- For flowers, choose Flower Market Road in Prince Edward; for goldfish, the north end of Tung Choi Street; for souvenirs, Ladies’ Market; and for sneakers, the southern section of Fa Yuen Street known as Sneaker Street. The Flower Market and Fa Yuen Street, whose name means “flower garden,” are not the same place. If you save a map pin based on the name alone, you might end up looking at sneakers instead of flowers.
- Start by choosing just two of the four markets. Pair the Flower Market and Goldfish Market for a daytime walk around Prince Edward, or pair Ladies’ Market and Sneaker Street for afternoon shopping around Mong Kok Station. If you want to see them all, go from north to south and leave extra time for snack stops and breaks on crowded sidewalks.
- When buying something at Ladies’ Market, check the final total and the actual condition of the item rather than relying on the first price quoted. At sneaker shops, authenticity, warranty, and size exchange terms matter; don’t judge them the same way as stall souvenirs. You don’t need to buy anything if you’re just there to see the live animals and plants. Follow photography signs in sales areas, and don’t touch the animals or water in their bags.
Day by day
Suggested itinerary
See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.
Prince Edward Station → Flower Market on Flower Market Road → Goldfish Market on the northern stretch of Tung Choi Street → snacks and return
Mong Kok Station → Ladies’ Market → Sneaker Street on Fa Yuen Street → Mong Kok Station
How to choose two markets
Choose daytime or afternoon if you want to see working shops such as those at the Flower Market; consider afternoon to evening for the stall atmosphere at Ladies’ Market. There are no common opening and closing hours for the markets as a whole, as though they were a single venue. If you have a particular shop in mind, check its hours directly. With children, it may be easier to visit just two streets during the day rather than spend a long time in the weekend evening crowds.
Allow about 2–3 hours for two markets and a snack. There is no admission charge to browse; your actual costs are transport, food, and purchases. Set a shopping limit and take out only the cash you plan to spend. If it rains heavily or the sidewalks are too crowded, don’t force yourself to finish Ladies’ Market; have a meal at Langham Place in Mong Kok and head back. If you visit only the Flower Market, you can finish at Prince Edward Station.
How to fit it in
Starting from Prince Edward, visit the Flower Market and Goldfish Market, then finish near Mong Kok Station to the south. If you only want to shop for souvenirs, go straight from Mong Kok Station to Ladies’ Market.
Reality check
The Flower Market → Goldfish Market on the northern section of Tung Choi Street → Ladies’ Market to the south is a one-way walk from Prince Edward Station toward Mong Kok Station. If you’re only shopping, start at Mong Kok Station.
Allow 2–3 hours for two markets and a snack. Leave extra time for travel and shopping if you connect all four.
Set a souvenir spending limit and cash budget; don’t buy based only on the first price quoted.
Keep your phone and wallet in front of you on crowded sidewalks, and avoid photography or contact in animal sales areas.
If plans change
Switch to Langham Place and an indoor meal.
See only the flower market on Flower Market Road, then return early to Prince Edward Station. Don't confuse it with Fa Yuen Street, known for its sneaker shops.
Small tip
Ladies’ Market’s stalls come alive in the afternoon and evening, but hours vary by shop. If you’re planning to see only the Flower Market and leave early, don’t make Ladies’ Market a must-see.
Final check before departure
- Choose one goal: see flowers and goldfish, or shop for souvenirs
- Decide whether to head south from Prince Edward or start directly at Mong Kok Station
- Set a souvenir spending limit
Stalls and shops may operate differently depending on the day of the week and weather, so check conditions on the day.
