At a glance

  • Hachiko Square and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing are for moving through. Don’t block the flow of people to take photos. Take a quick look from a permitted spot, such as a pedestrian bridge or building.
  • For a viewpoint, pay attention to timed entry, weather, and restrictions on outdoor areas. Check the indoor viewing and cancellation terms, and don’t insist on seeing it at exactly sunset.
  • Center Gai, Miyashita Park, and Sakuragaoka may be on the opposite side of the station. Pick a shopping goal and choose just two or three buildings on the same side.
  • Shibuya is crowded at night, so save your route back to your hotel and the station exit before setting out. Avoid unfamiliar touts and unofficial ticket or club offers.

Day by day

Suggested itinerary

See each day's route, highlights, background and stay together in one place.

Afternoon · Viewpoint building plan

Use the underground B6 connection or follow the signs from JR to the building entrance → eat and shop in Shibuya Scramble Square for 1–2 hours. If you’re meeting friends, choose a specific floor or shop inside the building.

Reservation time · SHIBUYA SKY

Arrive at the 14th-floor gate in Shibuya Scramble Square according to your reservation terms. Allow time for security and lockers, then spend 60–90 minutes at the viewpoint. Don’t treat shopping at Center Gai or Miyashita Park afterward as a must.

Separate option · Hachiko area

If you don’t have a viewpoint reservation, take the JR Hachiko Exit → Hachiko Square and the crossing → shop or eat near Center Gai, for a total of 3–4 hours. Don’t combine this with the other route as if they were one continuous walk in the same direction.

How to fit it in

If you have a viewpoint reservation, shorten the plan to the Shibuya Scramble Square side of the station. Follow this order: B6 Exit → eat and shop in Shibuya Scramble Square → enter SHIBUYA SKY on the 14th floor. This avoids going back and forth across the station. If Hachiko and the crossing are your priority, choose a separate walk from the JR Hachiko Exit and don’t try to fit in both a sunset reservation and all your shopping.

Reality check

Transport

For subway and Tokyu arrivals, check the connection to Shibuya Scramble Square from Shibuya Station’s B6 Exit. For JR arrivals, follow the official signs toward the building from the ticket gate for your line; because of construction, going down to the B6 Exit may not be necessary. SHIBUYA SKY entry starts at the ticket gate on Shibuya Scramble Square’s 14th floor, so reaching a shopping floor does not mean you’re finished waiting to enter.

Time

Allow 20–40 minutes for station navigation, 2 hours for shopping, 60–90 minutes for the viewpoint, and 60 minutes for a meal. On weekends and around sunset, allow extra time for security and entry queues.

Cost

According to the GO TOKYO official guide checked on 2026-10-03, online admission to SHIBUYA SKY for adults costs 2,700 yen through 14:59 and 3,400 yen from 15:00. Remaining same-day tickets at the venue cost 3,000 yen and 3,700 yen, respectively. If online tickets are sold out, don’t count on buying an adult ticket at the venue. Recheck the actual date, age categories, and cancellation terms with the facility’s official ticket seller, and budget for admission, transit, meals, and shopping separately. Before paying, read the refund terms and indoor viewing options if weather closes the outdoor area.

Safety

Don’t stop in the crossing or on platforms to take photos. At night, avoid touts, don’t leave drinks unattended, and share your return time and meeting point with your companions.

If plans change

If the viewpoint’s outdoor area closes

Check the on-site refund and indoor viewing terms. Finish with an indoor activity in the same building instead of going to another skyscraper just to make up for the viewpoint.

If station construction makes an exit hard to find

Don’t try to cross above ground where there’s no clear route. Show the building you’re heading to at an information desk or to station staff, then use the connecting passage they direct you to.

Small tip

Instead of telling friends “Let’s meet at Shibuya Station,” choose an exit, floor, and specific spot inside a building. Construction can change routes, so check the official station map and signs on the day.

Final check before departure

  • Save a screenshot of your arrival line, ticket gate, exit, and first building.
  • Check the viewpoint’s timed entry, weather, and cancellation terms.
  • Save your shopping direction and the ticket gate for the trip back to your hotel.

Construction at Shibuya Station and building connections can change. Follow the official station and facility information and on-site signs on the day. Check facility hours and nighttime safety information. If an exit is closed, use the alternate passage indicated by station staff. Choose an indoor place to meet again in advance in case you get separated.
