At a glance

  • First enter your accommodation address in a map from your arrival terminal, then compare whether you need a direct bus or whether a transfer is more convenient.
  • The final stretch to accommodation in the Old Town may be over cobblestones. If you have a large suitcase, check the distance to the tram stop.
  • For a late-night arrival, do not count on catching the last service. Coordinate your accommodation’s check-in time with your airport transport.
  • On your first day, a route that helps you make your first connection is more practical than focusing on the type of transit pass.

Check your accommodation route and arrival terminal, then go to the relevant bus stop. The city-bound Airport Express does not stop at Terminal 2, so if you arrive at Terminal 2, follow the DPP signs to the city-bound stop on the Terminal 1 side.

How to fit it in

For a first visit, it is enough to plan one route based on the nearest metro line to your accommodation or the main railway station.

Reality check

Transport

Trolleybus 59 connects to metro Line A at Nádraží Veleslavín and accepts regular PID time-based tickets. The Airport Express is a separate-fare service to the main railway station and does not accept regular short-term PID tickets.

Time

Allow a generous 60–90 minutes from the arrivals hall to your accommodation, including transfers and waiting.

Cost

According to PID’s official information as of 2026-10-04, the 90-minute ticket is valid for 90 minutes from first validation until you get off your last transit vehicle. It costs 50 CZK for a paper ticket or 46 CZK in the PID Lítačka app. If it may take more than 90 minutes to reach your lodging, choose a ticket with a longer validity period. Validate a paper ticket just after boarding your first bus or tram, or before entering the paid area of the metro, and make sure it shows the date and time. Activate an app ticket before boarding and wait at least 60 seconds for it to become valid. Under PID rules, luggage no larger than 25×45×70cm is free; larger bags require a separate luggage ticket. One piece of luggage may be free with a passenger ticket valid for at least one day, but PID trains are an exception, so check the official information for luggage size, ticket type, and validation. The Airport Express is a separate service costing 200 CZK for adults. Regular short-term PID tickets are not valid on it, and luggage is free. You can buy an AE ticket at DPP information offices at the airport or main station, or from the driver when boarding. The driver also accepts card payments. Keep your purchased AE ticket handy to show during inspection. Check fares and sales options again for your visit date.

Safety

When paying over airport Wi-Fi, double-check the payment website address and app name. Do not travel with your passport out in the open.

If plans change

Alternative if the route 59 connection is delayed

Compare taking bus 100 from the airport terminal and changing to metro line B at Zličín. Airport Express is not a bus connection to line B. Check the PID timetable for your visit date and the final walk to your accommodation.

If you have large luggage or arrive late at night

Use an official taxi stand or a prearranged vehicle to avoid transfers. Do not get into a vehicle whose driver solicits passengers.

Small tip

Walk past anyone soliciting rides in the arrivals hall. Use only the bus, airport bus, and taxi pickup areas shown on airport signs.

Final check before departure

  • Choose a transfer point based on your accommodation pin: trolleybus 59 connects to metro Line A at Nádraží Veleslavín, while the Airport Express goes to the main railway station. Enter your accommodation address and compare the final walking leg too.
  • Calculate the time-based ticket and Airport Express separately: the Airport Express has a different fare system from regular short-term PID tickets. Before buying, check the PID fare table and Prague Airport’s official transport page for routes and prices on your date.
  • For late-night flight arrivals, check your accommodation’s check-in hours and transport operating hours together. Use the time you expect to leave the terminal after collecting baggage, not your flight’s landing time. Before booking accommodation, confirm that late check-in is available. Also prepare the official taxi pickup location and estimated cost in case you miss the last service.
  • Validate your ticket before first use: insert a paper time ticket into a validator just after boarding to stamp the time. Activate an app ticket before boarding and check that it has become valid after at least 60 seconds. At the airport, follow official boarding signs and use route information in the PID app.
  • For a safe pickup, use the stand shown in the terminal’s official instructions, and do not load your luggage into a soliciting driver’s vehicle. If you take a car, confirm the destination and total fare before boarding.

Based on PID and DPP information as of October 4, 2026. Before departure, recheck same-day service on routes 59 and 100, night routes, and Airport Express, as well as the ticket validity time you need to reach your accommodation and the fares for each purchase method.
