  • Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare holders get a discounted gondola fare.
  • According to the 2026 official FAQ, an uphill reservation is required during the summer season through November 8. You cannot travel uphill in a sold-out time slot, so have both a valid ticket and reservation.

비용과 주의사항

비용

2026 round-trip fares include the uphill time-slot reservation. From June 15 to September 21, the regular and Eurail fare is CHF 40; the fare for Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare holders is CHF 22.50. For both periods shown in the official fare table—May 9 to June 14 and September 22 to November 9—the regular and Eurail fare is CHF 36, and the fare for Swiss Travel Pass and Half Fare holders is CHF 18.50. The end date in the fare table may differ from the actual operating date, so also check whether service runs on your visit date.

시간

Allow about 1 hour each way from Kandersteg station to the lake. Half a day is a good amount of time for the full outing, including a lakeside walk and waiting.

주의

Rain can make the trail down to the lake slippery. Wear shoes with good grip, bring a jacket, and return before the last downhill departure.

알아둘 점

An uphill time-slot reservation is not limited to a few peak-season months. The official FAQ says it is required through November 8 of the 2026 summer operating season. Official online tickets include the uphill reservation, but SBB and Swiss Activities tickets require a separate reservation. No time-slot reservation is required for the descent.

계획이 달라졌을 때

If your preferred uphill time slot is sold out

Look for another time or date on the official reservation page. Don’t assume you can board on the spot without a reservation.

In bad weather

Check service updates and the forecast. If rain or wind is severe, switch to an itinerary in Spiez or Thun.

출발 전 확인

  • Check whether service runs on your visit date and reserve an uphill time slot first. Reservations are required during the 2026 summer season through November 8.
  • Check whether your ticket from an external seller includes the reservation. If you have an SBB or Swiss Activities ticket, secure a separate uphill reservation.
  • Check that your shoes are suitable for the walk to the lake and confirm the actual last downhill departure. Don’t assume a standard summer schedule applies to special fall or weekend service.

The official FAQ checked on October 3, 2026, says an uphill time-slot reservation is required during the summer operating season through November 8. The fare table dates and actual last operating date may differ, so check both operating and reservation availability for your visit date.
