At a glance
- Soup curry often comes in a bowl with large ingredients, with rice on a separate plate. Put a little rice on your spoon and eat it with the broth, or alternate bites. There is no rule that you must add all the rice to the bowl.
- Choose the main ingredient, check whether there is a choice of broth, then select the spice level and rice portion. Chicken preparation and vegetable combinations vary by menu. Ask before ordering whether extra broth, toppings, rice, or spice levels cost more.
- A vegetable dish may still use meat, fish, or dairy in the broth or cooking. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, ask staff about the broth and ingredients instead of relying on the dish name.
- Curry Shop S is outside this comparison of 12 restaurants. An official closure notice has not been verified, so it is not classified as closed.

12 choices by location and broth
Start with central options, then consider an outlying main branch if you have a clear preference. This is not a route through every restaurant. Check the branch name on each map, then check restaurant notices for closing days and last orders.
On the first floor of the Asuka Building east of Tanukikoji, near Odori. Fish stock including bonito and mackerel combines with pork-based savory flavor. Consider it for a rich broth between sightseeing stops. It closes between lunch and dinner and may finish early when soup runs out.
On the third floor of COCONO SUSUKINO, connected to Susukino Station. A rich broth uses vegetables, chicken, pork bones, and fish, with vegetables cooked separately. Choose it when the vegetable selection matters to you. This branch does not take reservations.
The basement main branch is east of Nijo Market at Minami 3-jo Higashi 2-chome. It combines Japanese stock with its own spice blend. Check the current address rather than the old Minami 2-jo Nishi 2-chome location. Allow for its afternoon break and possible soup sellout.
On the second floor of the Toshimatsu Building, south of NORBESA in Susukino. Fried vegetables accompany an onion-based broth. Compare the regular, squid ink, and shrimp broth options when you want to choose the soup itself. Last orders vary by day.
In the basement restaurant area of the Hokuren Building southeast of Sapporo Station. Stock made from shrimp heads gives it a shrimp aroma. Choose it for shrimp broth near the station. It has a break between lunch and dinner; ask about seafood allergies first.
In the basement of the Create Building at Minami 1-jo Nishi 4-chome, near Odori. It describes its pressure-cooked broth as rich with a clean finish. Do not confuse it with the pre-2025 location at Minami 3-jo Nishi 1-chome. No reservations; last orders are at 20:30.
The Chuo branch is on the first floor of Confo Mall at Minami 4-jo Nishi 10-chome. Its chicken broth includes fruit and cabbage, with spices ground just before ordering. Consider it for a meal in a Balinese-style interior. Official hours have no afternoon break.
The main branch at Kita 13-jo Nishi 3-chome is in the Kita 12-jo Station area. Compare several broths, PICA chicken, and toppings on a Hokkaido University day. It is separate from the Sapporo Station branch. Official pages disagree on the evening closing time.
The main branch at Kita 15-jo Nishi 4-chome is in the Kita 18-jo Station area. Its tomato-based broth uses meat bones and aromatic vegetables, with basil. Consider it for tomato flavor or a walk near the university. It may close early when sold out.
The Kotoni main branch is at Kotoni 1-jo 1-chome near JR Kotoni Station. It emphasizes fried onions, rested broth, and spices ground for each order. Choose it when you have time to travel to Kotoni. Official information lists the third Wednesday as a closing day.
The Sapporo main branch is in the Nango 7-chome Station area. It serves clear chicken-based broth and named spice levels such as Awakening and Meditation. Ask staff about the heat rather than guessing from the names. Closed Wednesday and Thursday, with an afternoon break on weekdays.
The main branch at Hiragishi 3-jo 16-chome is in the Minami-Hiragishi Station area. Chicken and pork-bone broth combines with kelp, dried fish, and bonito stock. Choose it for both meat and fish savoriness. Weekdays have a break between lunch and dinner.

TREASURE and YELLOW fit an Odori sightseeing day. SAMURAI and Suage+ are candidates near a Susukino hotel or evening plans. For shrimp broth before leaving Sapporo Station, choose Okushiba Shoten. Add Rakkyo, Magic Spice, or KING’s main branch on a day when you can make the extra subway or JR trip for that restaurant.
Reality check
Link central restaurants with Odori or Susukino sightseeing. For an outlying main branch, compare subway and JR routes first. Check the Japanese branch name and address so directions do not lead to another branch of the same brand. Do not assume a subway-only pass covers JR travel to Kotoni.
Allow for the meal, return travel, and the actual queue. Waiting times vary by date and time, so do not rely on a fixed number of minutes. If you have a reservation or train afterward, decide when to stop waiting and switch to your backup if that time passes.
Add any broth, topping, extra rice, or spice-level charges to the main dish, then add drinks and transport. Base prices and free options differ by restaurant. Check the latest menu and confirm the total and card or cash payment before ordering.
Check allergy ingredients in shrimp, fish, and meat broth and fried items before ordering. Do not compare very hot spice levels by number across restaurants. Watch for icy paths between restaurants in winter. If waiting outdoors is difficult, change to a nearby indoor option.
If plans change
Around Odori, check another nearby option from TREASURE and YELLOW; around Susukino, try SAMURAI or Suage+. Check whether it is open first. A backup may also have a queue, so do not assume you can eat immediately.
Save Rakkyo, Magic Spice, or KING Main Branch for another day and choose a restaurant in your current sightseeing area. Keep enough time for your next booking or train.
Ask about a mild option and the broth ingredients. If the restaurant cannot meet your needs, choose a different kind of meal.
Small tip
First decide whether you want a rich or clear broth, or shrimp flavor. The same spice number means different things at different restaurants. Tell staff what heat level you usually eat, then ask separately about rice portions and extra charges.
Final check before departure
- Save one branch and one backup in the same area on your map.
- Check current addresses for GARAKU, TREASURE, and YELLOW, and the name PICANTE Kita 13-jo Main Branch.
- Check closing days, afternoon breaks, last orders, sellout rules, and reservation availability for your date.
- Ask about broth, spice level, rice portions, extra charges, and allergies before ordering.
- Set a time to stop waiting based on your next plan, and check return transport.
Use the current addresses for GARAKU at Minami 3-jo Higashi 2-chome and TREASURE at Minami 2-jo Nishi 1-chome. YELLOW moved to the basement of the Create Building near Odori on July 30, 2025. PICANTE Kita 13-jo Main Branch is separate from its Sapporo Station branch. Its official pages give different evening closing times, so contact the restaurant before a late visit. The closure of the Sapporo Station branch has not been verified either.
