At a glance

  • Menya Saimi is open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday, and for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. It is closed on Mondays, even when Monday is a public holiday. Early opening notices may be posted for weekdays or weekends, so check the official site before you set out.
  • CONG officially opens 11:00–14:00, closes Wednesdays, and ends service when ingredients sell out. Soup curry starts at 2,600 yen and includes a plain lassi. Choosing a spice level is free, but scales differ by restaurant: do not assume levels 2–3 are medium. Explain your usual spice tolerance to staff.
  • Jingisukan is lamb barbecue cooked on a convex griddle. Itadakimasu lets you compare Hokkaido and New Zealand Suffolk meat and mainly serves hogget, sheep between lamb and adult age. Fresh lamb, shoulder, and naka-ochi are not identical menu items at every restaurant. Here, check the official loin and maebara options and the day’s cuts and origins, then start with a small order.

Six options for choosing one meal

The numbers below are not a recommended visiting order. Choose one restaurant that suits your meal, accommodation, and tastes rather than visiting all six in one day. On a day when you eat a market rice bowl, soup curry can wait until another day.

1. Menya Saimi · Miso Ramen

About a 4-minute walk from Exit 1 of Misono Station. Consider miso ramen for your first order. To avoid a long wait, first check the official notices for early opening and closing days.

Lunch Line
  • Lunch, Tuesday–Sunday
  • Check Monday and irregular closures
2. Curry Ya! CONG · Soup Curry

In the Yamahana area at Minami 16-jo Nishi 6-chome. About 3 minutes on foot from exit 2 of Horohira-Bashi Station on the Namboku Line, or 1 minute from Seishu Gakuen-mae tram stop. Choose chicken, pork, or vegetables from that day’s menu and ask about spice and rice portions when ordering. Hours are 11:00–14:00, so do not set out late after a long Nijo Market breakfast.

Lunch south of Nakajima Park
  • Closed Wednesdays · Ends when sold out
  • Choose spice level · Ask about rice portions
3. Itadakimasu · Genghis Khan Barbecue

About 2 minutes on foot from exit 4 of Susukino Station. Lunch 11:30–14:30, last orders 14:00; dinner 16:00–23:00, last orders 22:30; Sunday dinner ends at 22:00, last orders 21:30. Meat can sell out and end service early, so avoid arriving just before closing and ask directly whether reservations are accepted. Start with one cut and follow staff instructions for grilling.

Susukino Dinner
  • First vegetable charge: ¥330 per pot
  • May close early when meat sells out
4–6. Sea Urchin · Late-Night Ramen · A Special Dinner

Uni Murakami is on B1F of the Nippon Life Sapporo Building, about 4 minutes on foot from Sapporo Station. Lunch and dinner reservations open 2 months in advance. Shrimp-ramen restaurant Ebisoba Ichigen’s main branch is a 15-minute walk from exit 2 of Nakajima Koen Station, a little away from the central nightlife streets. Official hours are 11:00–03:00 the next day, with irregular closures; choose shrimp miso, salt, or soy-sauce flavor. Molière is a French restaurant in Maruyama with telephone reservations; check its Tuesday and Wednesday closures, courses, and service charge.

What to Decide First

First choose the meal you most want today: ramen, soup curry, or lamb barbecue. Saimi and CONG have overlapping lunch hours and are in different neighborhoods. If adding night views and dinner on the same day, reserve the restaurant first and leave time for the Mount Moiwa round trip and queues.

Reality check

Transport

Saimi is 4 minutes on foot from exit 1 of Misono Station on the Toho Line; CONG is 3 minutes from exit 2 of Horohira-Bashi Station on the Namboku Line. Itadakimasu is in Susukino, Uni Murakami near Sapporo Station, and Molière in Maruyama. Ichigen’s main branch is at Minami 7-jo Nishi 9-chome; allow extra time beyond the 15-minute walk in snow or late at night.

Time

Allow 1-2 hours for a meal at Saimi or CONG, including the wait. For Itadakimasu, Uni Murakami, and Molière, allow at least 90 minutes including reservations and dining time.

Cost

CONG soup curry starts at 2,600 yen, including a plain lassi; Itadakimasu charges an initial 330 yen for vegetables per grill pan separately. Molière’s regular lunch courses are 7,200, 9,600, and 14,800 yen; dinner courses are 17,000 and 23,000 yen, plus a 10% service charge. Check special-course periods such as New Year, reservation cancellation fees, and any extra dishes available that day separately. Calculate your Korean-won budget at the exchange rate for your travel date.

Safety

Ask staff directly about allergies, raw foods, and alcohol before ordering. After a late meal, save a return route that leaves before the last subway train.

If plans change

For Trips to Asahikawa, Furano, or Otaru

Daikokuya, Marumasu, and Uomasa are restaurants in Asahikawa, Furano, and Otaru, respectively. Don’t force them into a list of places to eat in central Sapporo; choose them for a day when you visit those cities.

When lunch ingredients sell out or queues are long

Going straight from Saimi to CONG can make you miss both restaurants’ lunch deadlines. Choose one open ramen or soup curry place downtown or near your accommodation, and move the original restaurant to your first lunch on another day.

When dinner reservations clash with Mount Moiwa

Subtract the return and travel time to the restaurant from your reservation time to decide when to descend. If long boarding queues make that hard to meet, move the night views to another evening. If changing restaurants, contact them before the cancellation deadline. If you are full, choose a walk or just a late-night dessert parfait instead of more ramen.

Small tip

Before joining a queue, calculate the time left until your next reservation. If the last subway has departed by the time you finish eating, add the cost of walking or taking a taxi back to your accommodation.

Final check before departure

  • Choose a meal goal first: Saimi, CONG, or Itadakimasu.
  • Check each restaurant’s closing days, sold-out items, and reservation conditions in its official same-day notices.
  • The videos are for reference; use official information for current menus and operating status.
  • Do not carry one restaurant’s numbered soup curry spice scale over to another. Ask staff which cuts are available and about rice portions.
  • For nighttime meals, save last-order times, your return to your accommodation, and reservation cancellation deadlines together.

Official menu, access, and opening information for each restaurant was checked on October 9, 2026. CONG opens for lunch 11:00–14:00 and closes Wednesdays; Itadakimasu closes early when meat sells out. Recheck monthly closures, temporary notices, and reservation cancellation conditions for your visit date.
